In many ways Affinity Designer is superior to Photoshop with it's true vector support,
although it lacks a few features such as gradient masks that I personally depend on for many years to achieve non destructive highlights,
as an alternative to the dodge and burn method.

Affinity Designer may be more similar in comparison to Fireworks than Photoshop, which was a dedicated vector design program and the prime competitor to
Adobe Illustrator until Macromedia was bought out by Adobe and Fireworks was phased out.

Unlike other companies who have switched to a forced monthly/yearly subscription system,
when purchasing Affinity Designer you receive a lifetime licence. Meaning you pay only once and have access to all future software updates.
